Prescription dispensing:
We dispense both NHS and Private prescriptions and you can talk in confidence to our Pharmacist on how best to take your medicines.
Patient privacy:
When you have a prescription dispensed from this Pharmacy, we are required to record some information about you. This information will help us to deal with any questions that you may have. It will also allow us to use this as a safety aid when you buy medicines over the counter.
Emergency Supplies:
If you require a medicine in an emergency and are unable to contact your doctor, we may be able to help. This service is only available for genuine emergencies and because this is not an NHS service, you would need to pay for this. Safe disposal of medicines:
If you have any medicines that are unwanted or past their expiry date, bring them to the Pharmacy and we will dispose of them safely for you. Unfortunately this service is not available for residents of nursing homes due to the Waste Regulations 2005.
Smoking Cessation service:
In conjunction with the local Primary Care Trust, we offer a smoking cessation service which comprises of Nicotine Replacement Therapy combined with motivational support to help quit. This service is free if you are currently exempt from prescription charges but if you pay, there is a small charge.
Minor ailments scheme:
We are able to treat cases of uncomplicated Water Infections and Impetigo usually without referral to the GP. This is provided that you successfully complete an interview with the Pharmacist and you have no exclusions to treatment.
Travel and holiday advice:
If you are planning to travel or go on holiday we can help you and your family to plan for the trip. We can advise you on sun protection as well as remedies for insect bites, tummy upsets and other holiday complaints. If you are travelling further afield, we can advise you on vaccinations and malaria tablets. Whatever your destination, you can rest assured that we can help you with all of your holiday and travel plans.
Home Health catalogue:
We offer an extensive range of products designed for easier living in and around the home. These are available through our Home Health Catalogue which we keep in-store.
Pregnancy tests & Ovulation kits:
If you're thinking about starting a family, we can help with easy-to-use diagnostic kits for pregnancy and ovulation testing. Our Pharmacist can provide guidance throughout your pregnancy and can advise mothers with young babies on everything from health to hygiene and nutrition.
Sexual Health treatment:
We are able to offer free Chlamydia testing kits for those aged 15-24 and are able to supply antibiotic treatment to those having a positive test result. Emergency Hormonal contraception (The 'morning-after' Pill) is available free to the 13-19 age group and can be purchased by older women when necessary.Photographic processing:
If you drop your film or digital memory card to us, we can arrange for the developing and printing of images of them usually within a few days.
Medicine Check:
If you have two or more medicines from us on a regular basis you can have a free medicine check once a year (a Medicine 'MOT') from us. This will help you understand why you are taking your medicines, address any side effects and answer any questions you may have. Just contact us to arrange a suitable time for this one to one confidential medicine check with the pharmacist.
